We are seeking an experienced and motivated Floor Manager/Sous Chef for our passenger vessel, PRINCESS SEAWAYS, which operates on the Amsterdam-Newcastle route.

We are looking for the right candidate for the position as Sous Chef on our passenger vessel PRINCESS SEAWAYS, that sails between Amsterdam-Newcastle.
Onboard we have 2 restaurants with a wide range of menus.
- Our buffet restaurant Explorers Kitchen, provides both breakfast and an international dinner buffet for several hundred guests every day.
- The Ala Carte restaurant North Sea Bistro serves everything from steak to delicious fish.
- We also cater for approximately 150 crew members in our mess-room, where we serve international and local dishes, 3 times pr day.
We aim for high quality in our ingredients and cooperate with good suppliers to ensure great value for our guests.
As a part of the galley team, you play a very central role in creating fantastic food and making sure our guests get a special experience while they enjoy dining at sea.
About the role
In the position as Sous Chef, you will be co-responsible for the daily operation and management of the galley team, which consists of around 20 – 25 employees.
It is your responsibility to comply with all applicable standards and administrative procedures for the area.
Together with your immediate superior, Head Chef, you will also be responsible for implementing new initiatives to strengthen quality, customer experience and sales results.
Your daily routine will take place in the operation, where your main focus will be:
- Motivate & coach crew.
- On the floor quality checking of food
- Empowering crew to grow and develop.
- Daily briefings in the galley department
- Administrative and operational ad hoc tasks
About you
Energetic and courageous with a wish to delegate tasks, responsibilities, and necessary resources. You have an ability to keep cool in a hectic environment.
Empathy, good listening & peoples skills and respect for the opinions of others.
Positivity and a” can do” attitude towards new tasks and an ability to handle unexpected situations and conflicts in a diplomatic and persuasive way.
You are a resident in the EU/UK.
Additional Professional Qualifications
- High level spoken English (medium level written English is acceptable)
- Diploma as a chef
- Microsoft Office user level
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The work takes place on board the ship. Here you must be set to a work rhythm where you work 14 days, after which you have 14 days off. The working day is typically between 10-13 hours a day.
The salary follows the agreement between DFDS A/S and Metal Maritime. It is net wage that is not taxed (DIS) when you are resident in the EU.
