Data Platform Engineer
Do you want to play a key role in building DFDS’s data platform, enable data-driven capabilities, and be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team that supports each other every step of the way? This is your chance to help us grow our Data Platform team and contribute to a meaningful transformation journey.
Be part of the movement - and play your part.
About the role
DFDS is accelerating its move to innovate processes by delivering data-driven solutions, and we’re looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join us on this exciting journey.
To make this a success, we’re strengthening our Data Platform Engineering team responsible for modernizing our IT infrastructure and data processing landscape. This includes building our internal data platform to ensure we can build and maintain scalable data pipelines (batch and streaming) and API integrations based mostly on cloud infrastructure while promoting best practices in data ingestion and processing.
We are especially looking for you with experience in Data Platform Engineering - but more than anything, we’re looking for you who have a growth mindset and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems. We know that not everyone takes the same path into tech, and we welcome applications from those who are still learning, growing, or returning to the field.
“We’re building a team that values diversity of thought, experience, and background. If you’re excited about data - even if you don’t tick every box - we’d love to hear from you.”
You’ll join a supportive, cross-functional team made up of highly skilled data engineers and a product owner. You’ll have the opportunity to help define our ways of working, contribute to strategy, and bring ideas to life.
This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference — not just by delivering tools and code, but by influencing culture, improving processes, and helping others grow.
What you’ll be doing
Depending on your skills and interests, your work may include:
Writing infrastructure as code using Terraform or OpenTofu
Development of data-intensive applications in cloud platforms, preferably AWS (S3, Lambda, Snowflake, Redshift, IAM, RDS)
Developing tooling in Python or GoLang
Supporting CI/CD automation, and GitOps workflows
Contributing to the containerization and modernization of applications
Collaborating closely with developers, architects, and other teams to ensure cloud adoption
Implementing and maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like Grafana to ensure platform reliability and performance
Ensuring security and compliance in cloud environments by applying best practices such as data encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), IAM policies, and audit logging
About you
We believe great engineers come from many paths - and we value curiosity, collaboration, and kindness as much as technical skills. If you’re passionate about solving problems and improving systems, you’ll fit right in.
You might have experience with:
AWS, Azure, GCP
Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform/OpenTofu)
Kubernetes, containers (Docker/Podman), and Flux CD, Argo CD
CI/CD automation in Azure pipelines or similar, GitOps and observability tooling
Messaging systems like Kafka, relational databases, and/or REST APIs
Orchestration tools like Airflow
Monitoring and alerting tools like Grafana, Cloudwatch
DBT (data build tool) including testing/data quality
What matters most is your willingness to learn, your ability to work well with others, and your desire to create tools that help teams succeed.
