Application Specialist, Sertica
Do you want to be a valued part of the critical infrastructure that serves communities across Europe and beyond? Are you looking for a position in which you can set direction and help shape our company? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our Application Management Team
About the role
Be part of the movement - and play your part.
As our Application Specialist in Sertica, the system that supports our fleet operations, you will be responsible for upgrading, and optimizing the Sertica software, database and server infrastructure across the organization. This role ensures the application is stable, efficient, and aligned with operational requirements. The specialist will work closely with technical teams, vendors, and end users to drive continuous improvement and maximize system performance and usability.
In this role some of your main responsibilities will be:
Execute version upgrades, patches, and system enhancements in collaboration with internal teams and the Sertica vendor.
Provide 2nd line support for Sertica-related issues, escalating to the vendor when necessary, including monitoring of the system health
Collaborating with technical teams to improve architectural design within Sertica.
Ensuring the database health for Sertica
Acting as a bridge between business users and technical teams, ensuring system changes align with business needs.
You’ll also take part in our on‑call set-up for any Severity 1 issues, work directly with the Sertica vendor when technical problems need escalating, and support our business teams during their testing activities.
About you
We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all.
You don’t need to tick every box — what matters most is your mindset, your curiosity, and your ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
We’re looking for someone who understands how applications behave in real environments and how people actually use them. Someone who enjoys partnering with colleagues, untangling operational challenges, and making sure the tools they rely on truly support their work. If you take pride in streamlining processes, improving user experiences, and making systems run smarter, you’ll feel right at home here.
We imagine you’ll bring strengths such as:
Solid understanding of application architecture, configuration, and upgrade processes.
Experience with SQL databases, and system integrations (API, XML, etc.).
Hands-on eperience with a fleet management system or another operational application, giving you insight into how to support and optimize tools that keep the business moving
Ability to translate technical details into business language.
Experience working with SCCM or similar configuration/management tools.
Background in the maritime, shipping, or fleet management industry is a plus.
Familiarity with ITIL principles and change management best practices.
Proven experience with Sertica (maintenance, procurement, HSQE, or fleet management modules) is highly valued.
